In a miraculous act described by a witness as “an intervention by God,” a 13-month-old baby and a man survived a plane crush in South Sudan.
The man was found unconscious cradling the infant, and the two were the only survivors of a cargo plane crash. The crash occurred soon after take off from a South Sudan airport, killing 37 people, The Guardian reported.
Upon regaining consciousness, the man reportedly said he used his body to shield the infant.
The infant, named Nyalou, survived the crash with a broken leg and a wound to her forehead but her mother and older sister perished, according to the father, Thong Deng, The Guardianreported.
According to reports, aviation authorities say the plane was not authorised to carry passengers and it was carrying its maximum capacity for cargo.
